I’d be rubbing my palms together and thinking what a brilliant opportunity I’ve got this season if I had been Leicester director Brendan Rodgers.
While Liverpool and Manchester City are miles ahead of everybody else on top of the table, the other teams that are typically in the chasing bunch have all got significant problems.
The Foxes are the’best of the rest’ right now in position, and they should be thinking they can remain there.
Rodgers targeted the six over the summer and from what we have seen so far, his side not just have a likelihood of making itthe best four is a real possibility for them too.
They should not be scared of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United or even Tottenham, since their current performances have shown there is nothing to worry.
Last week when they dropped to United leicester played. They showed their qualities when they deserved the 3 points and defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Spurs staff of mauricio Pochettino are having a tough time away from home, particularly right now – they have not managed a league triumph.
Tottenham have headed by a target at half-time in their past three away games – from Arsenal, Olympiakos and the Foxes – nevertheless failed to win any of these, which tells you they have a softness about them that they don’t appear able to put directly.
They had a fantastic season last time out, reaching the Champions League final and making the top four of their Premier League for a fourth consecutive year beneath Pochettino – however they still appear a long way from reaching another level and lifting a serious title challenge.
Arsenal showed great character to come back from 2-1 down to beat 10 guys on Sunday against Aston Villa but that win doesn’t disguise the fact they have got enormous problems .
Because their midfield doesn’t have enough players that seem able to monitor runners, it is not merely their back-line responsible, but defensively they are all around the area.
Are in a similar vessel.
They revealed they will score goals and carry a danger but for manager Frank Lampard they always look like conceding them.
So you will receive a whole lot of inconsistency out of them, A great deal of the players are young and innocent – and that’s costing them goals.
They’ll put in some decent performances – such as that they did in their defeat weekend, however they won’t always get the results because of their inexperience.
At Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs put in a effort on the weekend – Manchester United did not manage much of the in their gloomy defeat at West Ham.
When he confronted the media later, old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was very optimistic, but he has to be aware of exactly how bad his team were.
I understand why he defended thembecause he has any young players and he does not wish to destroy their faith by criticising them public, but I think he is going to probably soon be saying things for them independently.
They were bad all lacking fight as well as any creativity, urgency or ignite attack. It was just unacceptable.
It’s now clear that a gamble was taken by United if they requested players that are either untried or unproven goalscorers to replace him and sold striker Romelu Lukaku.
Marcus Rashford has talent, however he still has a lot of improving to do. Mason Greenwood has enormous potential, but it is a big ask for him to direct the assault of United .
With Anthony Martial injured and Greenwood ill, they did not have a recognized to substitute Rashford when he limped off at London Stadium on Sunday after a hour.
I’ve some sympathy for Rashford, who didn’t score in open play to the sixth consecutive match this year, since it wouldn’t provide me great hope of having 25 or 30 goals if I was playing that team – but he’s to help himself also.
We don’t know if the 21-year-old will wind up as as a centre-forward, however if he is going to be a top-class striker with a killer instinct then his movement in the box should improve dramatically, and he wants to learn how to score the horrible aims as well.
United’s team is lacking at midfield in addition to up front, something which was highlighted by their seat on Sunday when they sent on Jesse Angel, Fred and Lingard Gomes to try to rescue some point.
But Solskjaer has to obtain some more creativity from somewhere, therefore it’s vital that he gets more from Paul Pogba when the France midfielder returns to fitness.
Teams on the rest are hitting and sitting, but they also need to discover a means to break down.
We watched them struggle to do this when they lost at home and it was the same against the Hammers, who did not give much space off and had been well organised.
It is fine if playing the rest is United’s program A, but what else are?
We have not seen anything to indicate that Solskjaer has seen a response yet, however, the one consolation for him is that a number of the other clubs are fighting.
