Newport’s Ryan Inniss charged after West Ham player makes biting accusation

Newport County defender Ryan Inniss has been charged with violent behaviour following an accusation was made he bit on an opponent.
Inniss, on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace, has been shown a red card in the final stages of Wednesday’s EFL Trophy clash.
The 24-year-old was ignored with Hammers youngster Reece Hannam late in the game.
County boss Michael Flynn revealed that Inniss was fortunate to have bitten at Hannam.
Flynn stated:”Their participant said he got humiliated, so I’ll take a look at that and find out what happened. If he has, it is inexcusable and that I will not be fighting his corner.”
Inniss would have functioned a ban for his dismissal but that absence may be longer after verification from the Football Association he had been charged over the incident.
An FA spokesperson said:”Ryan Inniss has been charged with being in breach of FA Rule E3(1) following a dismissal during the EFL Trophy match involving Newport County and West Ham Utd U21s on Wednesday [04/09/19].
“It is alleged that his behavior in or across the 90th minute constitutes violent behaviour, in circumstances where the standard punishment which would otherwise apply is obviously insufficient. The participant has before 18:00 Tuesday 10 September 2019 to offer a reply.”
