Newport’s Ryan Inniss charged after West Ham player makes biting accusation

Newport County defender Ryan Inniss has been charged with violent behaviour following an accusation was made he bit an opponent.
Inniss, on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace, was shown a red card at the closing phases of Wednesday’s EFL Trophy clash with West Ham U21s.
The 24-year-old was ignored with Hammers youngster Reece Hannam late in the game after an incident.
County boss Michael Flynn demonstrated after the game that Inniss was fortunate to have bitten Hannam.
Flynn stated:”Their participant said he got bitten, so I’ll have a look at this and find out exactly what happened. If he has, it is inexcusable and I will not be fighting his corner.”
Inniss could have served a ban for his dismissal but that absence might be after verification in the Football Association he had been charged over the incident.
An FA spokesperson said:”Ryan Inniss was charged with being in breach of FA Rule E3(1) following a dismissal through the EFL Trophy game involving Newport County and West Ham Utd U21s on Wednesday [04/09/19].
“It is alleged that his behavior or across the 90th minute represents violent conduct, in situations where the standard punishment that could otherwise apply is obviously inadequate. The player has until 18:00 Tuesday 10 September 2019 to supply a response.”
