Mauricio Pochettino: Dinner invite means squad are behind me

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is convinced because he has been invited into a group dinner by one of his own players, his team are behind him.
Pochettino’s position is under scrutiny following a series of three wins from 11 matches in all competitions so far this season.
However, the Argentine states that his invitation to supper through text message demonstrates the team remain combined.
“They aren’t about to say goodbye to me. To say goodbye, say goodbye here – not inviting me to supper,” he explained.
Speaking at a news conference before Saturday’s Premier League game at home to Watford, Pochettino said:”Once you are given a text in the player inviting you and the training staff for a dinner just two things might occur.
“[It is ] because they would like to say goodbye. Or since they feel that they love you and they wish to show that they are with you. And I think that it’s the second.”
Spurs lost 3-0 at Brighton in their past Premier League match prior to the international break, just four days following a 7-2 thrashing by Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The north London club were beaten on penalties by League Two Colchester from the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
That run of results may utilize things to attempt to turn around.
This proposal has been dismissed by pochettino , however, also says January will be too late to try a shift in shape.
“I never was keen on January and I will not change now as it is a tough period or demanding few games, I am not going to alter the way I think or find things,” he added.
“We are not going to force anything because we think the squad is an adequate squad. We will need to be strong as we are suffering a storm today, our choice was right we cannot now change quick.
“Now it is the opportunity to become responsible. First the players, everybody and then me.
“My view, the way I love to work, is that when you take decisions on the summer and after that you will need to be responsible and then you want to get the way to create that function.
“Today is not a point to chat around January, refreshing the team. Now is about trying to discover solutions because tomorrow we need to win and we need to win after tomorrow.
“We need solutions now. We can’t believe,’OK, we overlook now and in January we will fix the issue’. It is not like this.”
