How Manchester City can cope with Aymeric Laporte injury absence

After having successful surgery aymeric Laporte is anticipated to be out for some time – and it renders manager Pep Guardiola because he intends Manchester City’s name defence.
His lateral and the damaged cartilage meniscus against Brighton last weekend and joins John Stones, with a leg problem, at the treatment area.
This leaves the winners with one fit central defender in Nicolas Otamendi.
After Vincent Kompany left in the summer and also the failure to land another centre-half before the January transfer window, in which time they will have played with the following 17 Premier League games can not be signed by City.
Just how far will he be missed by City?
Premier League managers usually go into the global break with trepidation for their players returning hurt, but in Laporte’s case which has happened and just days after Guardiola had hailed the player into the France team.
Guardiola expressed only a week how pleased and grateful he was to Didier Deschamps for picking to choose the participant he sees as”the very greatest left-sided central refuge in Europe”.
Laporte has become Manchester City’s first name on the team sheet, with starting 49 matches in all competitions last season – more than any of their other outfield players.
City conceded just 23 Premier League aims and his calmness on the ball and range of passing sees him take the point for City attacks as he thrived term. So a hole that is major is left by his absence.
This is true because he’s also a danger scoring five goals past term on the last afternoon since they wrapped up the title involving one against Brighton, in the opposition box.
Which are City’s options to replace him?
Otamendi is the central defender so that he appears certain to begin following the Premier League resumes after the break and Town travel in nine days’ time to Norwich.
Stones isn’t with the England squad as he recovers from the injury that has kept him from City’s last three games, but he is back in training and Guardiola confirmed last week, that barring any set-backs, he’ll be fit for the trip to Carrow Road.
But should he ever suffer.
Even though it has been a plan to allow him to play more matches at centre-half, it is doubtful Guardiola expected to rely upon a defensive midfielder outside of rotation – early in the season.
Fernandinho played two games out of his position last season with success, firstly marshalling the City defence at a 3-1 win against Arsenal in the Premier League. But he fought in Schalke when he had been panicked into giving away a penalty, that left him a yellow card but in addition a suspension for the second leg.
Aside from Fernandinho, choices become very limited. Guardiola was impressed by young Spanish defender Eric Garcia’s creation and in pre-season he was assured increased game-time in this campaign.
However, it could be a major step up for your 18-year-old, whose only looks so far have come involving the two legs of past season triumph over Burton along with the quarter-final against Leicester.
But there is Kyle Walker. Guardiola confirmed after Laporte’s injury that”if a day I have to place Kyle Walker as a central defender, he is going to play there” – and he also backed the player to play centre-back for England at last season’s World Cup.
That was about the best of a back-three and it might be a danger to move him to centre-back in a two, he is indeed untested in partnership with one other, that Guardiola chooses.
