Bury will not be re-admitted to Football League next season

Bury will not be re-admitted into the EFL season following a meeting involving the 71 member teams on Thursday.
EFL clubs also have agreed in principle that only one club is going to be relegated from League Two this season.
Bury were expelled following the collapse of a proposed takeover after the postponement of the first five fittings following the Shakers were not able to give proof of the ability month from League One and the EFL.
An EFL statement said:”During the meeting, the EFL and its member clubs considered and debated a number of choices, with clubs given the opportunity to air their views.
“The argument included consideration of the proposal submitted by the Bury FC Rescue Board for the club to be admitted into League Two under new ownership in season 2020-21.
“Following in-depth discussions, it became clear that the proposition did not have the necessary support and EFL clubs favoured extending the existing principle of a decrease in relegation across all divisions as a way of returning to 72 clubs today and for its future”
The Rescue Board, chaired by Bury North MP James Frith, had appealed to EFL associates to encourage some”compassionate re-entry” to the team, but their plea fell on deaf ears.
“While we’re saddened that Bury FC is no longer a part of their EFL, the board tough decision to withdraw membership was only taken after every chance to find a settlement was drained,” EFL executive seat Debbie Jevans said.
“Since that time, in spite of their efforts made on behalf of the club, the EFL has participated with fans’ groups, shared their submissions with our members and debated at length the problems raised.
“Following the discussion [on Thursday], nightclubs have established that the favored direction of travel is to reduce relegation from League Two as a means of returning to 72 golf clubs. The clubs felt thatin a difficult situation, this strategy maintains fairness for all members and upholds the principle of the football pyramid.”
The clubs have backed Premier League chief executive Rick Parry since the EFL chairman and the proposed appointment of Liverpool.
