Stefanos Tsitsipas calls chair umpire a ‘weirdo,’ is one of four seeds in the top 10 to lose in US Open first round

(CNN) — For the second straight important, Stefanos Tsitsipas is out following the initial round, plus it came together with drama.
The No. 8 seed from Greece was beaten by Andrey Rublev, with the Russian progressing 6-4, 6-7(5), 7-6(7), 7-5 following three hours, 54 minutes. But Tsitsipas made waves when he awakened with chair umpire Damien Dumusois.
During the match, Tsitsipas was struck for receiving coaching; one of those in Tsitsipas’ box is mentor and his father, Apostolos.
In the fourth set, when he was fighting cramps, Tsitsipas at the same point was extended a time breach for not returning to the court.
It was subsequently he had been heard saying about the chair umpire from France,”You have something against me, I don’t know exactly what — because you are French, likely. And you’re all weirdos.”
Tsitsipas was asked regarding his comment in his post-match media conference.
“The chair umpire was quite incorrect in what he was telling me throughout the match,” Tsitsipas said. “I really don’t know exactly what this chair umpire has in certain contrary to my team but he’s been complaining and telling me that my staff talks all the time when I’m out on the court playing. He is really. I believe since I never hear anything of what my team states from the exterior, he is not correct. And there is nothing that I believe make me perform or could help my sport.
“My father outside, who usually does the speaking, he is hoping to put me up by saying, you know,’Come on.’ Raising my assurance by not coaching but by attempting to boost up me. I believe the coach because of my opponent does.
“This chair umpire, I don’t understand, he has something against me. I don’t know why.”
Tsitsipas reached the Australian Open semifinals earlier this year, beating Roger Federer. He also reached the fourth round but he dropped in the first round of Wimbledon.
Rublev’s hot streak persists. The French 21-year-old discharged Federer in just over an hour in the Southern & Western Open. It was the fastest defeat of Federer in 16 years. Rublev reached the final eight in 2017 in the united states Open.
Thiem, Khachanov, Bautista Agut also shed
Tsitsipas really isn’t the only seed in the best 10 to shed on Tuesday. Italy’s Thomas Fabbiano upset No 4 seed Dominic Thiem of Austria 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, Canada’s Vasek Pospisil shocked No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov of Russia 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, along with Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan upended No. 10 seed Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Actually Rafael Nadal, who won in straight sets appeared surprised to hear of this upsets.
“That’s tennis,” the No. 2 seed and also 18-time important champion said. “That is all the reaction I could say, no? When you begin the tournament, you have competitions ahead. Admire each and every opponent and you need to go on court.
“I went on court today against a tough opponent understanding I need to perform well to win. Should you perform bad, you can shed. Tsitsipas had a first round. Karen is a surprise. I think Thiem have been very sick. I feel really sorry for him. … Roberto was a surprise. Honestly, I am very sad for him.”
