Kieran Trippier says Atletico Madrid is a step up from Tottenham

Kieran Trippier says that he took a step up when he made Tottenham to sign for Atletico Madrid.
After connecting them for a fee in the region of # 22m trippier signed a deal with Atletico in July.
The 28-year-old had revealed”behind the scenes” issues caused him to leave Spurs, but he insists his first move to Spain is a sign of progress in his career rather than down a step.
“I am working with a few of the best coaches in the world,” he told AFP.
“Atletico is one of the largest clubs in Europe. I am not even taking down a step, I’m taking a step up.”
There were hints that Trippier’s movement could hurt his career after he had been dumped for the climax of England’s Nations League effort in May.
However, the former Burnley defender Was called up to the squad for the European Qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo of Gareth Southgate after the England head coach flew out to watch him play Leganes at La Liga.
“I texted him to say thanks for coming to watch me and to the support,” explained Trippier. “It meant a great deal to learn I’m still in his thinking”
