Gary Neville’s verdict on Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea

Gary Neville assesses Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea ahead of the Yield of Their Premier League.

Top-flight actions resumes this weekend after the worldwide break and the Sky Sports expert has ever had his say on those who finished final season, assessing their starts.
Read on on Liverpool’s title cost Arsenal start under Unai Emery, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United reconstruct and hard starts for Spurs and Chelsea.
Neville claims:”I was watching Liverpool at Burnley and I had that feeling.
“I said last year I thought they had been a championship team. They’re a tournament team. They are playing .
“You saw them in Burnley, and they were not brilliant at the first 20 minutes, but they go and find a goal and then a second aim.
“You talk about the clinical element of a group. The piece is right, the piece is right, and also the midfield looks seasoned and solid. They are a title-winning team and they were last year, basically by that which they did.”

Neville says:”In case Aymeric Laporte’s injury is a serious one, it is a significant problem for City. I said a couple weeks ago that I struggled to understand why City did not follow through on Harry Maguire with Vincent Kompany.
“I believed Kompany won them the Celtics in the past ten matches of last year when he played in all those games. Forget the Leicester minute which was just magnificent, I believed his direction held them together like you wouldn’t think when Liverpool were applying pressure. In terms of that leader-type figure, I believe that has been by Laporte.
“I feel that may cost City points. To be honest, there’s not any one greater at coaching in the world compared to Pep Guardiola stop. And there is no one better at making what could be play nicely.
“I watched two Champions League finals where Barcelona’d Javier Mascherano and Yaya Toure playing centre-back against Manchester United. So, I’m not going to sit here and make the mistake of thinking Guardiola can not turn into a Fernandinho or a Kyle Walker because they have that much of this ball during matches.
“What I’d say is that if Laporte is outside for quite a while, I believe it will definitely cost City points since he is a dominant centre-back. I found him three occasions and he is a great player. It’s a real anxiety for City. That is the one downer from the weekend City and when I was a City fan it might stress me at the short term and the medium-term, based on how long he was out ”

Neville says:”I thought there was good things from Arsenal in their defeat in Liverpool. I came from it with a degree of sympathy, thinking there was. I haven’t always been like that with Arsenal. Against Spurs you talk about the danger, the durability but you must mention they do seem sloppy and reckless in the back.
“We talked about the goalkeeper, Bernd Leno’s error. I really don’t quite trust him. I really don’t think he is anywhere close to the class of the other top goalkeepers we have in the Premier League. The 2 centre-backs, Sokratis and David Luiz, are reckless.
“You could argue that Hector Bellerin has got to return in, Rob Holding’s must come back, and Kieran Tierney has also got to return so that back four can be strengthened. However, you worry that back four may still not be for in which Arsenal wish to be, quite good enough.
“They somehow need to unearth a centre-back from someplace that is going to hold back that line together.
“There’s still that fear of Arsenal they look all over the area at the back when they have great players .
“We saw Tottenham produce many chances on the counter-attack against them whereas the top teams manage the counter-attack. They sustain their particular attacks and don’t allow different groups to counter them very often, Liverpool and City in particular.
How to watch Arsenal this weekend: Watford vs Arsenal is live on Super Sunday from 4pm; kick-off 4.30pm. Sky Sports customers can observe in-game clips from the game blog about the Sky Sports site and program. Highlights will be printed on the Sky Sports electronic platforms and the Sky Sports Football YouTube channel soon.
Neville says:”When you’ve got a young team such as the one Manchester United have – it has got a lot of gamers that are developing and seeking to improve themselves I believe they are going to have a lot of results like this they do OK in the game. I believed they performed fine however they don’t have this clinical element which would enable them to see off the game and win the game.
“There is a component of frustration from United fans because of where the club are. There that history of success under Sir Alex Ferguson but there has been seven years since that and there’s a part of frustration creating – actual frustration – that they are not on the track.
“I believe that they are on the ideal track in terms of what they are doing because the very first thing United have to do, you have to have a set of men and women in that changing space that want to be present.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in what he is doing, is attempting to play the long game. To play with the long game out above, he is going to want the assistance. He’s going to want strong leadership over the subsequent two or three seasons to be able to get those four or five move windows that he wants, not just to actually get people in the dressing area all facing the identical direction, but to find the quality in that is desired. You will need the quality to choose the orientation at the dressing area.
“Exactly what Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have performed at Man City and Liverpool, it took time to get right. It took Guardiola 12 months since he had a better group in the first location. It has taken Klopp three or four years to impact the culture completely and find a team completely in what he’d say is his own style and exactly everything he wants to perform.
“It does take time. Solskjaer is currently functioning more with a squad such as the one Klopp picked up compared to one Guardiola inherited at City at Liverpool. From this point of view, this is going to be a game at Old Trafford and it is going to be bothersome at times. There will be results across the way like Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace, but if you see the group a lot of the fundamentals are right.
“They appear to be enjoying the perfect way. You see that goal is scored by Daniel James and the manner by which they are currently trying to play is seen by you with. Its style is right, the bones are still there. But there is still a very long way to go and it is going to be bumpy on the way.”

Neville states:”The draw at Arsenal was a significant moment for Spurs. In relation to Mauricio Pochettino, there was an element of stress towards Tottenham in the lead up into this game. There were suggestions he could be on his way out. There were tips that the dressing room wasn’t quite as it ought to be if you have seen over the last three or four years the most perfect balance between coach and players.
“I really don’t think that is not there anymore. Ultimately there been several unsettling components concerning players wanting to run down their contracts and maybe perhaps attempting to leave.
“However, to have withstood that pressure from the second-half in the Emirates until the international break and come away with a point proved to be a big time for Pochettino. It is a thing as a coach.
“I do not buy into this Arsenal will finish above Tottenham stuff, to be honest. There’s talk Spurs are on down the road, but I think that they are an excellent team.”

Neville says:”Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Manchester United, I think the Exact Same for Frank Lampard in Chelsea. We are currently seeing Lampard attempt to alter what’s been a machine for the past 15 years at Chelsea. They’ve been a machine that’s had that experience. Youbelieved they understand their way around the pitch and ‘ve always looked at Chelsea. They’re wise, they are mature.
“You have a look at this team now and it has less experience. It has less know how and it’s immaturity and more youth concerning it. That comes a few terrible outcomes and mistakes.
“Lampard is a youthful manager, but having left the choice to appoint himit doesn’t seem right they’re not likely to go with them and rear them with what they are trying to do – since he’s trying to change the culture at the club.
“If you’re attempting to do what Lampard’s performing, that will be bringing throughout the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek along with other academy-type players, you are likely to have to give him his time. That is the big issue for both Chelsea, and Manchester United. They will need strong leadership, they are going to have to resist some pressure, especially on networking, and stand firm. They have to say”We know what is being assembled, it’s correct and we are going to go with this.”
