Scotland have Dropped Kenny McLean for their European Championship qualifier against Russia in Moscow on Thursday.
After failing to conquer a minor injury problem, the midfielder has returned to Norwich.
Manager Steve Clarke, who lost McLeans Norwich team-mate Grant Hanley and Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack at the weekend, also said:It is always disappointing when you lose players out of the group and we have dropped Kenny McLean as well.
It is another blow but a excellent opportunity for somebody else. It is part and parcel of international football.
Clarke, whos also missing Scott McTominay during suspension, added:Its always disappointing to get rid of a player so late in this week.
When Kenny reported, he had a little niggle – its not correct for me to state what its, that is because of his club to operate out – we were pretty convinced that Kenny would create it, however the last 24 hours it did not get any better, it really got a little bit worse.
So we made the choice to allow Kenny to go back to Norwich.
The Scotland manager has given up together with Scotland, on qualification nine points with four games made while the hosts are 22 objectives better off away second-placed Russia.
Clarke is constructing for the play-offs in March but that he wont sacrifice the capacity to get results to experiment.
No free strikes, Clarke said in the Luzhniki Stadium. I want to pick up 12 points from the remaining four games. Obviously its a demanding one in Russia but theres no free strikes.
We owe it to the million or so Tartan Army fans which are coming as well to wear a good performance and go away with three factors.
Every match you enter you want to accomplish the maximum, which is three factors. I would like a good performance level, I want a performance level in the next four games.
My view is that in case your performance level is great enough, then the things will follow
What this means:
Steve Clarke has admitted that Scotland will not meet the requirements via this particular class and the play-offs are the only reasonable path to Euro 2020. With four games to go, Clarke should mould a team capable of playing in a way that may get effects, and going of setting an understanding into the play-offs with confidence. Russia is the toughest and next of those four games. The head coach can be demanding victories and says none of the matches will be strikes.
Suspensions injuries and players requesting to be left out of his group has hampered his attempts to attempt and construct a direction of playing and picking teams. Conceding nine goals from the past few games, despite two of the matches being against Belgium, reveals Clarke needs to increase his negative. The group are not supplying enough of a goal threat and have also just scored once in these three games.
Scotland have players in the squad performing for their clubs and playing at the highest level in England – transferring that to the global scene is proving difficult just now. Have the opportunity. Scotland are to qualify given Hampden Park is a host place along with a meeting with England is about the cards in the finals if equally qualify.
Artem Dzyuba is Russias captain and significant danger. He also scored the equaliser at Hampden and could have felt. The striker is going to be a few for the Scotland defence. Whoever can be tasked with him will have a game.
Scotland head back to Hampden to get a game on Sunday – . You have 19,000 spare seats and can fit all 33,000 occupants of the country inside Hampden. A lacklustre 2-0 win in March in Serravalle was Alex McLeishs final match in charge and did nothing to build confidence or momentum. Therell be an expectancy and urge to win and win big.
