Atletico Madrid -250 Favorite to Win 2020 La Liga Title Without Barcelona & Real Madrid

Diego Simeone’s Rojiblancos needed a summer of critical movement, the most prominent of which watched Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix join on a record 120M-euro deal from Benfica. Atleti also seemed strong in pre-season drama — for what that’s worth scoring a 7-3 triumph over Real Madrid at New Jersey along with a 2-1 win over Juventus at Stockholm.
Historical trends also tell us Simeone’s squad is a really safe bet: Atletico completed ahead of Real Madrid at 2017-18 and 2018-19, and hasn’t finished outside the top three (or under anybody besides Bar??a and Real) because 2011-12.

There are only two other real challengers such as Atletico at Sevilla (+800) and Valencia (+600); the former has not finished ahead of Atletico since 2010-11, while the latter hasn’t since 2011-12.
It remains to be seen whether new boss Julen Lopetegui can steer Sevilla back to being a regular top-five squad; the Spain youth trainer struggled in his only previous high-profile club endeavor in Porto.
In Valencia, a good summer has observed manager Marcelino add quality pieces from goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen (Barcelona) and ahead Maxi Gomez (Celta); final year proved to be a crazy ride to the Valencians, who began horribly but caught fire down the stretch to finish fourth, and their summer additions must have them solidly in the top five this year.
It’s interesting to note a scarcity of odds love for Getafe (+4000), that ended a club-best 5th in La Liga last season but is expected to struggle with valve congestion and regress into a more typical mid-table finish.
Given that Atletico added some high quality and Simeone’s club consistently punches over the weight of its squad on paper, it is unlikely either will provide it a significant run with this prop bet.
