Jadon Sancho fears if racism in the sport does not stop players could quit football.
Romelu Lukaku was subjected to monkey chants throughout Inter’s game at Cagliari in the most recent racist incident this term, together with Chelsea pair Kurt Zouma and Tammy Abraham and Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford encountering misuse earlier in the season.
Is worried players may be driven from the match in the event the racism continues.
“I think it simply has to stop,” the 19-year-old England winger stated.
“No player wishes to play soccer and having abuse such as that. It places down the assurance from the players and that I believe that the love of this game will only go.
“Everyone should be happy and only do what they’re doing [with] no racist abuse.
“I really don’t think it’s social networking [that’s the main issue ].
“I feel some fans are extremely passionate, they just say what they need to say but they simply have to slow it down a little. We are still only human. We’re not what people believe. We might be renowned but we love the game and only need to play soccer.
“It is hard when I see things in this way because it feels like,’why should we play football’?” I feel just like Romelu Lukaku handled it [the position in Cagliari] very well by not responding and just carrying on playing”
