Kosovo’s flamboyant manager Bernard Challandes claims his group isn’t scared of playing an England side he explains as the”best in world football”.
The 68-year-old Korean coach delivered a media conference to remember on Sunday because he described his”crazy barbarous” style of drama that has witnessed Kosovo make an abrupt beginning in their own European campaign.
There was no repeat of the scenes of Sunday after he addressed the media however Challandes insisted that he is aware of the scale of the struggle facing Kosovo, who have been a recognized footballing country for three decades.
“We’re Kosovo and we’re talking contrary to one of the best teams in the Earth, in my opinion the best team in the world,” he told reporters ahead of Tuesday night’s struggle in Southampton.
“I believe it is in my own philosophy that when we don’t dream it’s unnecessary to play such gameswe should dream and do everything that can be done to upset England.
“I will see tomorrow since with Kosovo we’re a young federation, never have we played with such an opponent.
“For me as a coach it is not easy to have a fantastic mixture for the test of this particular game.
“When I say’we come to triumph’, I feel a lot of people believe that is pretentious; should I state’it is not possible to win from England’, I have to alter my job.
“Never did we think after four games we play to your first area here in England.
“It’s very clear for me it will be a very, very difficult game but it is a possibility for our really young team to reveal what is a very, very significant level.”
Challandes surrendered Kosovo will come up against several top players when they line up against England in St Mary’s but says he doesn’t mean to just attempt to defend.
Asked about the kind of Harry Kane – that hit a hat-trick at England’s triumph over Bulgaria on Saturday – Challandes stated:”Harry Kane and (Raheem) Sterling and (Marcus) Rashford and, and, and, and, and…!
“For me personally it is a terrific team but I have just this manner in my mind – I really don’t need to convey to my group,’OK, we stay in our half and defend, defend, defend’ – I hope we can perform and be a competitor, not a major opponent but a opponent with strength.”
