Australia batsman Cameron Bancroft to stay at Durham for 2020 season

Australia opener Cameron Bancroft is to return to Durham for the 2020 season after making a big impression.
Even the 26-year-old, that opened for his country in the initial two Ashes Tests that summer after beginning the 2019 campaign at Durham, will pay the entire summer at the Emirates Riverside and be open to play all three formats of the
game.
Later operating a nine-month ban in the game for his participation in the 2018 scandal wicketkeeper-batsman Bancroft’s arrival at Durham was contested in some quarters.
However, Bancroft captained Durham in both the Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup this year, scoring 726 runs in an average of 45.37 from the four-day match and incorporating 377 more at 94.25 from the 50-over format.
Before losing his position on Marcus 44, he was phoned into Australia’s Ashes team however suffered a challenging time on duty, scoring eight and seven in the first Test at Edgbaston and 13 and 16 at the moment in Lord’s.
Durham’s director of cricket Marcus North explained:”We’re delighted to welcome Cameron back to Emirates Riverside to our 2020 season.
“He’s had a massive impact on the field with his direction and good-quality during his performances.
“Cameron has also had an impact off the field as an ambassador for the team with a number of community projects.”
